How to use

The Smoky Kit
The Smoky Kit

Pati’s step-by-step guide on how to create the ultimate smoky eye.

2 Pro Tips Before You Start:

+ Don’t apply powder before you create a smoky eye - if any eyeshadow drops or you make a mistake, you want the skin to be ‘workable’ so you can easily remove it. (Less is more with powder, especially as you mature.)

+ Always have your foundation or concealer brush to hand, as that’s going to be your friend when creating a smoky eye. Clean up as you go, to ensure the eyeliner pencil is not too low and the wing has a lifted shape.

Step 1: Start by applying the New Supercolour Kohl Eyeliner in Smoky Quartz along the lower waterline and over the lower lash-line. Blink a few times and blend with the smaller end of the New Pro Blend & Smudge Brush. Then take it up to the outer corner. Blink and blend again with the brush.

Step 2: Next, take the eyeliner along the top lash-line, focusing on the outer-third, and then take the pencil up and around to the outer crease of the eye. This creates a frame for where your eyeshadow is going to go. Blend the eyeliner with the small end of the New Pro Blend & Smudge Brush.

Step 3: Now it’s time to apply some eyeshadow on top of the eyeliner pencil. Start with the darkest of the smoky shades - deep matte black (PD.008) – using the smaller end of the brush. Apply this eyeshadow over the eyeliner pencil only. (The pencil gives you the placement groundwork for where the dark shadow is going. The pencil is also going to help hold the shadow in place, so you’ll have fewer smudges.) Trace along the lower lash line and the outer corner of the eye. Soften the edges with your fingertip. Now take the brush up to the outer corner of the eyelid and outer crease of the eye. (Only apply the dark shade to the outer corner of the eye to help elongate the eyes. You don’t want a lot of darkness on the actual eyelid.) Next, use the larger end of the brush to make sure the finish is soft and blended.

Step 4: Still using the larger end of the brush – and patting off any excess before application – apply the soft, neutral beige (PD.005) to the inner portion of the eye in gentle strokes.

Pro Tip: If your eyes have a more open shape, apply this light shade to the centre of the eye instead; if your eyes are more hooded, apply to the brow bone only.

Step 5: Apply the matte pale grey (PD.006) to the outer portion and centre of the eyelid. It’s meeting up with the matte black shade.

Step 6: For the final eyeshadow step, press and tap the metallic silver shimmer (PD.007) over the centre of the eyelids to visibly brighten and open up the eyes.

Step 7: Apply multiple coats of Uber Volume™ Boost Velvet Formula Mascara in Super Black to the upper and lower lashes to intensify the smoky feel.

New! Pro Blend & Smudge Brush

Use the LARGER end of this brush for: precise application of eyeshadow onto the lids; to shade into the creases; and to add highlighter to the inner corner of the eyes or along the brow bones.

Use the SMALLER end of this brush to: blend pencil eyeliners to a soft finish, or to smoke out eyeshadow at the lash lines.

(Pati also uses the smaller end of the brush to blend lip liner and the larger end of the brush to blend lipstick.)

New! Shine Up™ Luxe Lip Balm in West Coast Nude - Nude Brown

Apply the moisturizing crayon all over the lips to add a sheer wash of balmy glow. This shade evens out the lips and adds shine.

Pro Tip: Pair with any nude lip liner pencil that best suits your skin tone to add more definition. You can also apply it to the apples of the cheeks for a ‘nothing something’ finish!

New! Supercolour Kohl Eyeliner - Smoky Quartz

Glide along your upper and lower lash lines - building fine or full colour - for a long-lasting finish.

(Sharpen as needed with our pencil sharpener to keep the tip precise.)

Back In Stock! Pro-Glow™ Perfect Highlighting Stick - Soft Moonlight

Apply to the high-points of the face - brow bones, along the tops of cheekbones, down the centre of the nose and to the Cupid’s bow - and blend.

Two Pro Tips:

For the eyes: Dab the highlighter onto your fingertip and over eyeshadow to add intense sparkle and shine to your eyes.

For the face & body: On the back of your hand, lightly apply the highlighter and then mix in with moisturizer to create a highlighting balm. Apply to the collar bones, the tops of the cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose, over the centre of the eyelids to heighten that glossy lid effect, and into the brows.

Uber Volume™ Boost Velvet Formula Mascara - Super Black

For length and volume, press the wand horizontally into the roots of your upper lash line, then pull the brush slowly through to the tips. Repeat until your lashes are as thick as you wish.
