Why People Are Replacing Their Body Wash With AcidEnzyme

Why People Are Replacing Their Body Wash With AcidEnzyme

Long Story Short:

  • Beauty Pie's AcidEnzyme Exfoliating Face & Body Cleanser is formulated in Switzerland with 2% Salicylic Acid and a 3% Papaya Enzyme Complex

  • Gently tackles rough, bumpy skin, clogged pores and ingrown hairs – no aggressive scrubbing required

  • Use once or twice a week in the shower; leave on 2–3 minutes for stubborn areas, then moisturise and wear SPF

Rough, Bumpy Skin On Your Upper Arms? Tiny Bumps On Your Thighs Or Bottom?

AcidEnzyme Exfoliating Face & Body Cleanser is our Swiss-formulated argument for putting proper skincare in the shower.

If those persistent little bumps are keratosis pilaris, often called KP or “chicken skin”, gentle exfoliation can help improve the rough, uneven texture. Which is where a body cleanser with 2% Salicylic Acid and a 3% C-X-Papaya Enzyme Complex becomes considerably more interesting than something you bought because the bottle looked nice next to the taps.

Think about your skincare routine, and you might admit it’s slightly involved.

You will apply a deep balm double cleanser, acids, vitamins and peptides, retinoids and ceramides and other ingredients with acronyms and budding biomedical technologies to your face with the precision of a Virgo-born lab technician, then wash the rest of your body with something chosen because it would probably look very nice next to the taps.

Your face, apparently, is a demanding European principality.

Your body can fend for itself.

Until there’s an issue.

And if you’re familiar with those tiny, stubborn bumps that can colonize the skin on your upper arms, thighs and sometimes even, gasp, your buttocks, the ones that feel a bit like permanent goosebumps and have inspired generations of people to scrub themselves with ground apricot shells, please don’t do that.

There is a more sophisticated option.

It’s called AcidEnzyme Exfoliating Face & Body Cleanser.

Formulated in Switzerland with 2% Salicylic Acid, a 3% C-X-Papaya Enzyme Complex, plus Oat and Mallow Extracts, it combines acid and enzymatic exfoliation to help rough, congested skin feel smoother.

Think of it as your upper arms finally getting a skincare routine.

So What Exactly Are Those Little Bumps On Your Arms?

The technical term for one common cause of those persistent little bumps is keratosis pilaris, or KP. It’s a very common, harmless skin condition that often appears on the upper arms and thighs.

Essentially, keratin can build up around the opening of a hair follicle, creating tiny plugs.

The result is the rough, bumpy texture many of us recognize on our upper arms, thighs and bottom. The bumps can sometimes appear red or discolored too.

And this is where basic human psychology becomes relatively unhelpful. Because when most of us feel something rough, we have a primal urge to scrub it until it capitulates. Which is totally understandable if the item in question is a saucepan. Skin, however, is less impressed.

Aggressive physical scrubbing can irritate skin and make it feel even more uncomfortable, so when it comes to managing the appearance and texture of KP, gentle chemical exfoliation can be a much more civilized approach.

Salicylic Acid: Now Leaving The Face And Entering The Shower

AcidEnzyme Exfoliating Face & Body Cleanser is formulated with 2% Salicylic Acid, a beta hydroxy acid, or BHA.

You may already know salicylic acid from facial skincare, particularly products formulated for oily, blemish-prone or congested skin.

Here, it helps exfoliate dead skin cells that can contribute to rough, clogged-looking skin.

And salicylic acid has another particularly useful characteristic: it’s oil-soluble. That means it can help rebalance oily skin and make pores look visibly clearer, rather than only exfoliating the very surface of the skin. Useful if your particular skin grievance involves bumps, congestion, clogged pores or ingrown hairs.

But Then Our Swiss Chemists Added Papaya Enzymes

Because why give one exfoliant all the work? AcidEnzyme is also formulated with a 3% C-X-Papaya Enzyme Complex, which includes papain, a proteolytic enzyme derived from papaya.

If “proteolytic enzyme” sounds like something you’d prefer not to encounter before coffee, the important bit is this:

Papain is an enzyme. Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid.

Papain works enzymatically on superficial dead skin cells, while salicylic acid helps loosen and remove accumulated dead cells and improve the appearance of congested-looking pores. Together, they help rough, bumpy skin feel smoother and more refined.

AcidEnzyme also contains Oat and Mallow Extracts, included in the formula to help condition and soothe the skin. So no walnut shells. No heroic scrubbing. No standing naked in the shower attempting to remove your “chicken skin” epidermis through determination alone.

  • Rough, bumpy skin
  • Clogged or congested-looking pores
  • Blemishes-prone skin

In other words, you may buy it because your upper arms have started making demands and discover several other parts of your body would also like to speak to the management.

People Have Noticed

At the time of writing, AcidEnzyme has a 4.5/5 rating from 561 Beauty Pie reviews.*

And it is worth reading the reviews yourself, because people use it for a surprisingly broad range of skin concerns, from rough texture and body bumps to blemish-prone skin. And you know what else is great?

AcidEnzyme is not a $200 serum in a tiny bottle sitting on your bathroom shelf looking as though it has recently completed a doctorate.

It is a jumbo-sized bottle of active cleanser. You put it in the shower. And it just gets on with the job(s).

How To Use AcidEnzyme For Bumpy Skin On Your Body

Start once or twice a week, particularly if your skin is new to exfoliating acids.

Massage one or two pumps onto damp skin using circular motions, focusing on areas such as the upper arms, thighs, bottom, shoulders, chest or back. (It’s also absolutely amazing pre-shave.)

For particularly rough or bumpy areas, massage it over the skin and leave it on for a few (2-3) minutes before rinsing thoroughly with lukewarm water. Avoid aggressive scrubbing, loofahs, woven jute mitts. The ingredients are gently exfoliating. You do not need to bring personal ambition into it. Follow with moisturizer, particularly if your skin is prone to dryness.

And, as ever, use broad-spectrum SPF on exposed skin and follow the product directions on pack.

Can You Use AcidEnzyme On Your Face?

Yes. AcidEnzyme is formulated for both the face and body, and may be particularly useful if your facial skin is oily, congested or blemish-prone. Teenagers, it’s reported, absolutely love the stuff.

If you’re new to exfoliating acids, start gradually rather than immediately treating your acne battle  like an endurance sport. Use it once a week initially, then increase frequency according to your skin’s tolerance and the directions on pack. But more than three-times a week, no matter how oily you are, is probably overdoing it!

Moisturize afterwards and wear SPF during the day.

Your Shower Has Been Underperforming

First came facial cleansing. Then double cleansing. Then toner. Essence. Serum. Another serum whose relationship to the first serum remains unclear. Moisturizers followed. Then for good reason, SPF.

Meanwhile, your upper arms and other areas of your body that may need help have been getting supermarket shower gel.

The clever thing about AcidEnzyme is that it multitasks, adding new elements to things you’re already doing.

You were going to shower anyway. Now you can tackle rough, bumpy skin at the same time. No additional evening ritual. No special exfoliation night. No tub of scrub slowly-filling with shower water and clogging your drain so much it develops its own ecosystem.

Wash. Exfoliate. Rinse.

This sounds almost insultingly simple, which is precisely why it has a decent chance of becoming a habit.

Your body is skin too. And that bumpy skin would like some attention, please.

Someone had to say it.
