A recent inventory of beauty habits, minor obsessions and the new spicule serum I’ve been putting into practically everything.
Summer is wonderful for many things. Long dinners, bare feet, slightly fewer emails, discovering that apparently three olives and a bowl of crisps now constitutes dinner. Your skincare routine? Possibly less wonderful.
Even the conscientious among us may have become casual about daily SPF, vitamin C serum and nighttime retinoids. So this is your back-to-school skincare reset, except nobody needs a protractor and you are allowed wine.
New to Beauty Pie? Welcome aboard! You do not need a 14-step skincare routine, a shelfie, or the immediate acquisition of every active ingredient discovered since Marie Curie.
START HERE: a great cleanser, Vitamin C in the morning, daily SPF and Shinkai Electrolyte Drench for hydration. These are bestsellers for a reason, and an excellent way to build a simple skincare routine without behaving as though your bathroom has received venture-capital funding.
Then, when you’re ready, add a Retinoid at night and Niacinamide to support your skin barrier. Not particularly TikTok. Extremely sensible. Great for your skin.
NOW FOR THE THING YOU’RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO BUY YET.
I have been given permission by the head honcho of Supply Chain to quietly pre-release our new YOUTHBOMB INTENSE SKIN RENEWAL SERUM to readers.
It’s a high-potency skin-longevity serum with Exosomes + Peptides, delivered via Micro Spicules, microscopic needle-like structures that help deliver the formula into the upper layers of skin. In other words, this is for the people who hear “Micro Spicules, Exosomes and Peptides” and lean closer rather than backing slowly towards the door.
It doesn’t officially launch until September, and you absolutely do not need to buy it. But if advanced skincare is your particular form of extracurricular activity, congratulations: you heard about it here first.

ALSO CURRENTLY TAKING UP SPACE IN MY BRAIN: Stole The Morning EDP, Youthbomb Extreme Retinal Serum, Daily Magnesium and Instinct Deluxe Shine Lipstick, of which I have somehow finished three entire sticks. Three. Finishing a lipstick is the beauty equivalent of using an entire Bic pen: theoretically possible, almost never witnessed.
That’s the reset: a little less whatever, I’m on holiday. A little more RIGHT, LET’S SORT THIS OUT.
